OhioNET: Copyright in Action – Understanding Section 108, The “Reproductions in Libraries and Archives” Exception
As we move further into a world of contracting for access to (rather than ownership of) digital resources, it’s critical for library staff members to understand how this section of the copyright law impacts how we build collections and how we share them through services like interlibrary loan.
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Review the basic history of copyright legislation and case law
- Explore Section 108 in detail, including how it can be used for preservation and accessibility purposes
- Discuss resources to help keep up to date on the issue
